Operating without a licence: Child care

Unlicensed child care providers may care for only two children or a sibling group, not related to them, at any one time.  If someone cares for more than the allowed number of children outlined in the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, without a community care facility licence, they may be operating in contravention.

Operating without a licence: Residential care   

Unlicensed providers may provide care for only one or two persons not related to them by blood or marriage. If someone cares for more than the allowed number of persons outlined in the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, without a community care facility licence, they may be operating in contravention.

Health Authority Community Care Licensing Programs investigate any complaint that an unlicensed facility is being operated. This page provides information regarding facilities which have been found to be operating in contravention of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act.
