Staying in the hospital

Patient instructions

Your health care team will explain why you’re in the hospital and what needs to happen before you can go home or to another facility. Learn more about important information you need to know for your hospital stay.

Visiting the hospital

Stay home if you aren't feeling well. We want to give our patients every chance to get well. Please do not visit the hospital if you are feeling unwell (for example, if you have a cold or the flu) or have been near someone else who is sick. It is important to wash your hands or use available alcohol-based liquid/foam hand sanitizers before and after visiting a loved one in the hospital or clinic.

Visiting hours

Please check in with the unit before visiting to determine the best time for your visit and what you should do when you arrive.

Gift shop

Having someone in the hospital when you cannot visit can be extremely difficult. We can help you support your loved one by delivering a gift on your behalf.

Capital project overview

We are building a new, state-of-the-art hospital in Dawson Creek to address current and future health and patient care needs. The new Dawson Creek and District Hospital (DCDH) will be over 25 percent bigger than the current facility and have an increase of 24 beds bringing the total up to 70. It will incorporate modern best practices and standards as well as meet the future needs of the region. Patients, families, physicians, and staff will benefit from strengthened and expanded existing services.

The new DCDH will continue to provide a range of health care services including acute inpatient care, maternity and newborn care, surgical services, acute psychiatry, medical imaging, lab services, visiting specialists, IV therapy treatment, cancer care, and an emergency department with a high acuity unit.
