Residence is not accredited, but Northern Health is part of an industry self-regulation program (Accreditation Canada)
- 15 publicly subsidized assisted living units - one bedroom units, for single or double occupancy.
- Each apartment has a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom with closet & some storage.
The monthly charge for publicly subsidized Assisted Living is based on income. Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income, up to a maximum amount. The monthly fee covers rental accommodation, hospitality services, personal care and on-site emergency response system. Hydro is subsidized; residents pay only $15.00 per month.
Persons receiving disability benefits from the Ministry of Housing and Social Development pay a fixed rate.
Items not included as a part of the monthly fee include: telephone, cable, personal laundry, household and toiletry supplies, medications, personal care products and insurance.
- Monthly meals out, barbeques, bingo’s, birthday party’s, social events, community events, church services, games day’s, exercise classes 3 times a week, spa days, music therapy.
Residents keep motorized scooters in their apartments. There is also space available on site to store a scooter.
Residents may keep a small dog or cat that does not exceed 25lbs. A resident may register a pet with Northern Health that they have at the time of move in. They may not register a pet after move in, or to replace a pet they had on move in.
All Northern Health facilities are smoke free. Residents are asked to smoke outside the facility in designated areas.
- Secure entrance and exit doors, intercom system to access apartments, residents wear an emergency response pendant to alert staff if they are in need of help.
- Built in fire and sight alarms in apartments.
There are two parking spaces available for residents with cars and a parking lot available for staff and visitors to park in.
Summit Residences is within close proximity to bus route and hospital.
