Northern Health Connections modified holiday schedule 2020

The Northern Health Connections program will run on a modified schedule starting December 17, leading up to a holiday season break.

NH Connections provides transportation for clients travelling to non-emergent health services outside their home communities. A variety of routes connect communities across northern BC, along with service to Vancouver. Demand for the service typically drops over the holiday season as fewer people book health care appointments.

COVID-19 – Rotary Manor, Dawson Creek - Update #2

Northern Health is pleased to advise that COVID-19 outbreak protocols are being lifted for all but one unit at Rotary Manor in Dawson Creek, as the exposure risk has passed for the majority of the facility.

To date, there have been a total of nine confirmed resident cases of COVID-19, and four staff cases. Sadly, two residents passed away since the outbreak was declared November 2nd, 2020.

Respect COVID-19 rules, ahead of the weekend

Northern Health, on behalf of our staff and physicians, is reminding residents to adhere to the new provincial health orders and guidelines as we experience growing COVID-19 activity.

With more frequent cases and clusters, as well as increasing hospitalizations, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has issued strong orders and guidelines in an effort to address the surge in cases. The North is not exempt from the increase in COVID-19 activity and hospitalization rates, and we want to reinforce Dr. Henry's call to act appropriately.

COVID-19 outbreak at LNG Canada Project site – Kitimat - Update

On November 19, 2020, Northern Health Public Health declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the LNG Canada Project Site in Kitimat, BC, where JGC Fluor (JFJV) is the prime contractor, after finding evidence of COVID-19 transmission among staff working at this location.

As of today, 41 employees associated with this outbreak have tested positive for COVID-19. Thirty four of these cases currently remain active. Sixteen people are in self-isolation at the project site. The remaining individuals are in isolation in their home communities.

COVID-19 outbreak at North Peace Seniors Housing Society apartments – Fort St. John

Northern Health Public Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the North Peace Seniors Housing Society apartments in Fort St. John, BC. There are currently 6 confirmed cases among apartment residents.

All residents of the apartment complex are being asked to take extra precautions, including reducing visitors and social interactions. People at risk have been asked to self-isolate in their apartments. Common rooms have been closed. Increased environmental cleaning is being performed throughout the complex.

COVID-19 Outbreak Rescinded – Peace Villa Long-term Care facility, Fort St John

Northern Health is rescinding the outbreak called on November 18th at Peace Villa Long Term Care Home.

The outbreak was called after a potential exposure was identified and out of an abundance of caution. Upon additional investigation, the result confirmed that there was not an exposure at the facility.

To confirm at this time, there is no evidence of transmission of illness among staff or residents within the Peace Villa facility.
