This e-Learning initiative will extend education and training to individuals anywhere and anytime.  This is a user-friendly "Dementia Orientation" program that discusses what it means to have dementia, as well as self-learning modules for use by health professionals, community members, those with dementia and their families and caregivers.

Part 1 - Foundational Information (open module)

  • Provides an overview of Dementia (recognition and diagnosis, personhood, person-centred care, best practices)

Part 2 - Sustaining Quality of Care (open module)

  • Provides a clinical focus (more on person-centred care, assessment, a focus on responsive and protective behaviours, co-morbidity, pain assessment, assessment tools)

The Dementia Journey

Dementia is a progressive disease, often described as a journey along a winding pathway.  But you don't need to travel alone!

Dementia Journey is your link to an in-depth look at the different stages of Alzheimer's disease and related types of dementia.  Through the stories of other British Columbians living with the disease, you'll be guided to valuable information and resources across the Province.

Whether you have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or another type of dementia, have a friend or loved one with the disease, or simply want to learn more, you'll find it on the Dementia Journey Web site.
