Round trip service is provided on a coach bus along the following routes on the specified days. Stops are made to pick up and drop off passengers along the way, as well as periodic rest stops and meal breaks.

*In order to assist NH clients who require medical services in Kamloops, the Prince George to Vancouver bus now travels via Kamloops on Tuesdays, as does the return Vancouver to Prince George bus on Thursdays.

NH Connections partners with Eagle Transit to provide medical travel service on Haida Gwaii

Starting on February 1, 2008, Eagle Transit, in partnership with Northern Health, is running a wheelchair accessible bus service between points on Graham Island.

April 12th, 2012 Eagle Transit will be changing its medical travel service. The service will provide daily transportation for medical passengers, running return trips to and from QCIGH and NHGHHC. This service will no longer stop at the ferry terminal in Skidegate.

 People who have off-island medical appointments are to contact the Northern Health patient travel coordinator for information on how to arrange transportation to the ferry terminal. 1-250-559-4302.

Advance reservations are strongly recommended and are required for door-to-door pick-up.

The Eagle Transit service also offers transportation options to those traveling for other purposes. The bus service picks up and drops off at local community stops, and provides door-to-door service to most locations when requested.

Medical travel passengers who complete the necessary paperwork pay a maximum of $10, pro-rated based on length of trip from each community. Passengers traveling for non-medical reasons will be charged a regular transit fee. 

Residents traveling for medical reasons can bring a companion on the trip at the medical rate if space is available. A companion can provide support while a patient is traveling, and help them get to their appointment.

Medical travel service: Tumbler Ridge to Dawson Creek

TR CARES is a medical travel service connecting Tumbler Ridge residents with specialized health care services and appointments in Dawson Creek.

The service is a partnership with Northern Health’s NH Connections program providing a free vanpool service every Thursday from Tumbler Ridge to Dawson Creek.

TR CARES’ service runs once a week on Thursdays using a seven-passenger van. The service is flexible, with optional pick ups at shopping centres in Dawson Creek if passengers have time to wait before or after their appointments. The driver may also make stops to help patients who need to get a prescription or other medical supplies.

The van leaves Tumbler Ridge as early as 8:00 AM every Thursday depending on the time of appointments. TR CARES schedules up to six passengers riding on the same day to make the service as efficient as possible.

Tumbler Ridge residents can use the program provided they:

• Are a British Columbia resident with a valid BC Care Card;
• Don’t need medical care during transportation;
• Are traveling for a physician-referred medical service or for a health care service not available Tumbler Ridge; and/or
• Have been transported to Dawson Creek by ambulance and wish to use the service to return home during its regularly scheduled weekly trip.
